Welcome to the True Sports Physical Therapy Podcast. In this episode, Dr. Yoni Rosenblatt sits down with Dr. Vikash Sharma, DPT, OCS, COMT, CFSC, founder of Perfect Stride Physical Therapy in Manhattan, a board-certified orthopedic clinician, certified strength coach, and run coach who has spent over a decade building an out-of-network practice niched entirely around runners.

They dig into the patient population that intimidates so many clinicians: the high-level marathoner who feels great until mile 23. Vikash explains why his first question is almost always about nutrition and fueling, not the tissue, and how a training block can expose a problem that was there all along.

The conversation also covers what "tendons love load" actually means in practice, from desensitizing an acute Achilles to progressing through heavy isometrics, eccentrics, plyometrics, and back to running. They get into strength programming across all three planes of motion, and the hard-won business lesson of working on the practice instead of in it.

If you treat runners, coach them, or are building a clinic of your own, this one is full of gold. Tune in.

Welcome to the True Sports Physical Therapy Podcast. In this episode, Dr. Yoni Rosenblatt sits down for the third time with Jack Rasmussen, founder of Caddix Cleats, the company behind the Smart Studs that move with the athlete and decrease force up the kinetic chain.

Jack traces the whole arc: from making beds as a housekeeper and watching a player go down on an open field, to building a cleat now worn by nearly 100 NFL players, Team USA Lacrosse, and Olympic athletes. He and Yoni dig into the decisions PTs face too, including why he turned down $80 million in funding and a $20 million buyout on gut feeling alone.

It also covers the science a clinician can stand behind: the Rush University testing that showed reduced peak force at the ankle, knee, and hip, plus reduced hip adduction and knee valgus, the first step of an ACL tear. Jack is careful about that claim, and the precision is the point. They also get into why athletes are breaking down earlier than ever.

If you are a sports PT, a clinic owner weighing your next big decision, or building something from scratch, this one carries lessons on both the business and the biomechanics. Tune in.

Welcome to the True Sports Physical Therapy Podcast. In this episode, Dr. Yoni Rosenblatt sits down with Dr. Marc Pietropaoli, MD, orthopedic surgeon out of Syracuse, NY, founder of Victory in Motion, and author of Repair Not Replace: Natural Joint Relief Without Surgery or Pills.

Dr. P walks through the regenerative medicine philosophy he built after training under Dr. James Andrews and Kevin Wilk: treat the body as something that heals itself, and only operate when nothing else will work. They get into the PRP literature, why dose matters more than almost any other variable, the difference between leukocyte-rich and leukocyte-poor preparations, and the case for treating the knee as an organ instead of injecting only intra-articularly.

The conversation also covers Dr. Hernigot's landmark bone marrow study (82% of severely arthritic knees never needed replacement at 15-year follow-up), how the Victory Method's Clarity Day combines physical exam, ultrasound, MRI, and a full hour with V Motion Fit, and the long-game mission to eliminate knee replacements by 2043 through prevention.

If you are a sports PT working alongside orthopedic referrals or fielding patient questions about PRP, biologics, and surgical alternatives, this one will sharpen how you vet providers and how you talk about regenerative care. Tune in.

Welcome to the True Sports Physical Therapy Podcast. In this episode, Dr. Yoni Rosenblatt sits down with Dr. Odell Miller, former NFL athlete, businessman turned physical therapist, and owner of Off the Bench Physical Therapy.

Odell unpacks the cash versus in-network debate, why he chose a premium cash model from day one, and how he hit $51K months as a new grad inside six months. They get into the art of the handoff (how to position a clinic so it is not built around the founder), Gary Vee's "hire fast, fire faster" approach, and what to actually look for in an interview beyond the rehearsed answers.

The conversation also dives into Myron Golden's implementation ladder (implementation, management, communication, imagination) and why staying small and treating every patient yourself is doing the world a disservice. Odell shares his content philosophy (documentation over creation), how he lives in his van to reinvest cash into the business, the mentorship lens he uses to pick coaches, and why building leaders beats managing people.

If you are a PT student, new grad, or clinic owner thinking about scale, this one will fire you up. Tune in.

Welcome to the True Sports Physical Therapy Podcast. In this episode, Dr. Yoni Rosenblatt sits down with Dr. Kevin Lynch, a brand new UMB graduate, former Division I lacrosse captain at the University of Delaware, NLL Philadelphia Wings alum, and the newest staff PT at the True Sports Bare Hills location.

Kevin walks through how he prepped for and passed the NPTE on the first try, why he believes the CSCS exam was more applicable to outpatient MSK than the boards themselves, and the gaps in PT school curriculum around movement deviations, exercise prescription, and the business of physical therapy.

The conversation also unpacks how to build and maintain professional relationships from PT student to first job, what truly separates a good outpatient PT from a great sports PT, and why coaching youth athletes is one of the fastest ways to level up your clinical communication. Kev closes with the Eric Cressey lightning round covering The Hard Hat, the Daily Stoic, and the PTs he watches outside True Sports.

If you are a PT student, new grad, or clinic owner thinking about hiring, this conversation is loaded with practical guidance. Tune in.

Welcome to the True Sports Physical Therapy Podcast. In this episode, Dr. Yoni Rosenblatt sits down with Dr. Zack Atwood, owner of Primal Recovery PT and Performance, founder of the ACL Institute, and the creator behind The Football Doc on Instagram.

Zack walks through how he thinks about graft selection across age and sport demands, when an LET (lateral extra-articular tenodesis) earns its place in a primary repair, and why retear rates may be tracking better with modern hamstring + LET combinations. He explains arthrogenic muscle inhibition, why the calves get neglected in ACL rehab, and how focal joint cooling, NMES, and BFR change what is possible in the first 6 to 8 weeks.

The conversation also unpacks why limb symmetry index can mislead clinicians and parents, how peak torque to body weight gives a far truer picture of readiness, and why Derek Hansen's 10x10 protocol is replacing traditional run-walk progressions for field sport athletes returning to sprint.

If you are a sports PT, student, or clinic owner who wants to level up ACL rehab and return-to-sport decision making, this conversation will sharpen every phase of your program. Tune in.

Welcome to the True Sports Physical Therapy Podcast. Today's episode is a rewind of one of Dr. Yoni Rosenblatt's favorite conversations: Dr. Frank Benedetto, founder of the Honey Badger Project, a business incubator for healthcare clinicians modeled after Y Combinator.
Frank breaks down why grad schools fail clinicians on business, the consolidation and fragmentation cycle playing out in PT right now, and the lean startup principles that make bank loans obsolete for most new practices. He explains why your gym choice dictates your income ceiling more than any other variable, and how to progress from basic HEP apps into hardware-software integrated member journeys.
The conversation also digs into the money-versus-mission problem baked into PT education: why clinicians are taught that business is dirty, why that framing costs patients, and why a lean, ethical practice is the vehicle for impact rather than the obstacle to it.
If you're a startup clinician, a cash-based practice owner, or an established operator looking to add revenue streams, this episode will reframe how you think about business as the vehicle for mission. Tune in.

Welcome to the True Sports Physical Therapy Podcast. In this episode, Dr. Yoni Rosenblatt sits down with Dr. Brent Brookbush, founder of the Brookbush Institute, longtime educator, and one of the most outspoken voices in rehab education.

Brent breaks down why so much continuing education feels evidence-based without actually being built on comprehensive research review. He explains what outcome-driven education really means, why original research matters more than recycled summaries, and how clinicians should think about expected value when choosing interventions.

The conversation also digs into the profession's bigger structural problems: why outdated board content survives for years, why many so-called experts are not reading research or measuring outcomes, and how that disconnect shapes what students and clinicians are taught.

If you're a sports PT, clinic owner, student, or educator trying to think more clearly about evidence, outcomes, and clinical decision-making, this episode will challenge how you evaluate rehab information. Tune in.

Welcome to the True Sports Physical Therapy Podcast. In this episode, Dr. Yoni Rosenblatt sits down with Brett Morse, a sports performance coach out of upstate New York and three-time All-American from Cortland University.

Brett breaks down how to diagnose whether an athlete is force-dominant or elastic-dominant using vertical jump comparisons, split times, and reactive strength indices. The conversation covers how to train each bucket, when to prioritize hypertrophy versus max strength, and why overcoming isometrics are underused in both performance and rehab settings.

The discussion also dives into rotational power for overhead athletes, the link between lower body strength and throwing velocity, and how med ball work bridges the gap between weight room capacity and sport skill.

Whether you are a sports PT or a performance coach, this conversation will sharpen how you assess and program for speed and power. Tune in.

Welcome to the True Sports Physical Therapy Podcast. In this episode, Dr. Yoni Rosenblatt sits down with Dr. Philippe Schafer, a male pelvic floor specialist who owns Schafer Physical Therapy in Union Square, Manhattan. Philippe is a University of Maryland DPT graduate, former Georgetown strength and conditioning coach, and former standup comedian.

Philippe makes the case for why sports PTs should care about the male pelvic floor. He walks through his full evaluation process from the base of the neck to the feet, explains the obturator internus connection between the hip and pelvic floor, and shares how he has resolved persistent groin and hip cases by looking at pelvic floor involvement. He covers strengthening progressions from Kegels to sumo squats to single-leg work, mobility approaches including low-load long-duration stretching and weighted RDLs, and why defaulting to Kegels can actually make things worse.

The episode also covers Philippe's journey opening a cash-based practice in Manhattan, the grind of knocking on 70+ physician doors, and the key lesson from standup comedy that every clinician should hear: complete composure, no matter what the patient says. Tune in.
