Emily combines her expertise and training in Mindfulness to work with athletes through several practices including meditation, breath work and yoga. Through her company, Perrin Wellness and Performance she works with athletes and coaches all over the country including teams at Duke University, the University of Michigan, Villanova University and beyond. Her areas of expertise include working with performance anxiety, enhancing the mind body connection and athlete recovery. But her skill set, expertise and holistic approach to performance enhancement is one that is extremely applicable to not just athletes. The tools and skills she teaches can be used by all, including Sports PTs. In this podcast we discuss what Mindfulness is as well as how we can be using it both as Sports PTs and with our patients. We also cover stress and burnout. Many Sports PTs face both of these and learning how to navigate them can be a difference maker for your overall health and longevity in the profession. We also touch on what challenges the injured athlete is facing and signs that we should be looking for in our athletes in order to refer them to the proper mental health professional.
